Selain sebagai penghias (tanaman hias air), apu-apu berfungsi juga sebagai pembersih dari pencemaran air. Selain itu, tumbuhan air apu-apu, termasuk salah satu tanaman hias yang mudah perawatannya dan termasuk tahan lama.
